First Week of School [Kinda]

The first week of school has come and gone. Holy goodness, this is going to be a long semester. I love my classes for the most part, but goodness gracious are they going to take up a lot of my time.
These area  few pictures from the week:

First up, me looking exhausted after a long, long day of class:

Next we have one of my addictions: Hot Tea. I just can't help it. I love tea so much!
There's not a day where I go without some kind of hot/cold tea!

This, unfortunately, is my desk. However, it has been cleaned. No worries. I was just a little stressed. I've  got all my books, homework, calendar, and computer on here!

And finally, one of my favorite things in the world. A shrimp poyboy. (:

SAG Award Show: Dress Edition

Life, as of lately, has been hectic to say the least! It's been slightly difficult trying to adjust to college life in the second semester, but now that I've had my first FULL week back (the first week of school, we didn't have school on Monday) I feel as if I have got the hang of it.

This semester, I have a LOT more free time than I did last semester. So, what do I do in my free time, you may ask? This weekend, I relaxed, did some laundry (read: two and a half weeks worth of laundry), did a little homework and now I'm watching the SAG awards. I have to say, I absolutely loved the following dresses:

Dorm Life

Reasons you know you're back in a dorm/at college:

1. You can hear every conversation your suite-mates have through the walls.

2. When you share a bathroom, you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in there.

3. You have to remember to be courteous to your roommate.

4. You actually have to buy your own groceries.

5. You don't have a set "schedule" for school.

6. Nights of "we're just going to hang out for a little bit" turn into "3am bedtimes and 7am wakeup calls".

7. You get really good at making just a little more fit in your closet.

8. Since you don't have a uniform anymore, getting dressed in the mornings is a lot harder.

9. When changing class to class, your walk is no longer 5 minutes, it's anywhere from 10-15 minutes, and sometimes it's taken at a run.

10. You eat, drink, breathe, sleep, work, do homework, have fun all in one place.

(and it makes you stir crazy)

New Orleans Weekend

I spent this last long weekend before school starts with my boyfriend in New Orleans. He's in school down there so the purpose of the trip was to get him settled back into his apartment and spend some time together before we both have to go a month without seeing each other (in person that is; we always do skype dates at night before we go to sleep).

Friday I didn't get off of work until 7:30, so we didn't leave town till about 8:45-9. By the time we got to Nola we were both exhausted so we brought everything in and then went to sleep.

Saturday, we slept until about 10ish and then watched How I Met Your Mother: Season 1 alllll day. But really, it took us all day to watch half the season because we'd watch one episode and then fall asleep for 20 minutes. And then repeat the process.

By the time Sunday rolled around we really wanted to go into the heart of the city. We walked (literally) across New Orleans and back, stopping and taking pictures every now and then. Really, we spent a good 6-7 hours out there. Then we went to this adorable little gelato place and split a scoop of mint gelato (it was delicious to say the least).

Monday brought on a day of packing and organizing. We made one last trip to walmart to get everything we forgot and then headed home. Boyfriend packed my bags back in my car and I headed home.

I'd have to say it was a successful trip.

Dorm!

I have almsot everything settled in and now it's just beginning to feel like home. I went grocery shopping this morning and I got some tasty (but healthy) food!

I love hanging my scarves on the end of my bed. That way they're easily accessible and it gives a little more color to the room.

And I even had time to get my desk straight with my books and calendar!

Dorm Living.

Before the great packing adventure began, my room looked like this:

So in my "spare time" I played with some incense:

It's official. I'm now back in my dorm. I spent a grand total of maybe 3 hours packing last night and then hauling everything down to my tiny car. I got most everything in one trip, but I'm still finding things that I forgot...I'll make another trip tomorrow I'm sure.

I'm Not Quite Sure What Packing Is

Example: This is me, not packing.

This is also me not packing.

...I think I may go attempt to pack now. It's not like I have to have my car loaded and on my way to school by 8:30 tomorrow morning....

Diet. Coke.

Anyone who knows me, knows well that I hate Diet Coke. It's not that I've actually ever even sat down and tried to drink one. I used to sip out of my dads and moms drinks but could never seem to stomach the taste of it. That is, until yesterday. One of my new years resolutions is to stop drinking so much caffeine and sugar. That means cutting down on cokes and coffee specifically. (I may or may not be slightly addicted to coffee). So I've decided to drink Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Tea and Water. Yesterday was the first day, and you know what. Diet coke actually isn't that bad.

Bloglovin?

I'm now registered for a site called Bloglovin. Apparently its very useful in following blogs from all over. This means I can keep all my beloved blogs that I follow religiously on one place. Success.

My Room.

My room is in the middle of being packed back up for the dorm which means it is an absolute mess. To get into my room, I had to clear a little space for the door to open, then a little pathway is made out. I swear by Wednesday night everything will be packed away in the back of my car awaiting its trip back to my home sweet dormy dorm.

Last semester I didn't really pack anything of sentimental value, pictures, or anything to make my dorm feel like home. I did this because I knew I wasn't going to be spending much time there. This semester, however, I know I'll be spending a lot more time at my dorm. So one of my top priorities is bringing things that make my dorm home. This means a ton of books (just to read in my spare time), pictures, silly things, and paintings will be brought to the dorm.

2011.

I don't often make New Years Resolutions because usually they don't get followed and I don't like to make promises I can't keep (even if they are just to myself). This year, I've come up with a few that shouldn't (being the operative word) be hard to keep. They are as follows:

1. Learn how to use my Nikon D90

2. Blog when I want and not feel like it should be a chore. This blog is mainly for my mom to keep on my my crazy shenanigans.

3. Work harder in school. This last semester I was not pleased with Architecture, to put it nicely. This semester I'm actually happy with what I have chosen to do.

Really, that is all I can think of right now.

Happy New Year.

Back Into the Swing of Things...

Or maybe not. The past few weeks at work have been a time of low to no stress. So now, as I'm sitting at work (still doing absolutely nothing) I find it hard to get back into the swing of things.

Next Thursday is when I'll be moving back into my dorm. What this means to me is that by next Thursday I pretty much have to have my entire life packed back into my car to make the trip to the dorm. Now I only live about 20-30 minutes away from campus, but at the same time it's a little nerve wracking to have to get everything together again. I've already tried to make my room at home less cramped, but that just ended in me shoving everything into my closet. So, this week/weekend I shall enlist in boyfriend's help in cleaning up my room and packing everything neatly into boxes and such to move back into my dorm.

Everything is seeming to fall back into place.
