Picture This....

Warning: Forgive me for this, but you're about to experience a total sorority freak out over here. I promise it doesn't happen tooo often. 

So, picture this. One of your favorite designers tells you you're going to design a special pattern for you and your closest group of friends, but first you have to go through a crazy process with a bunch of different people. Well that's basically what happened to me for the last month. Lilly Pulitzer announced about a month ago that they were going to be creating new sorority fabrics for the top three sororities that gain the most votes. First round cut down more than 20 sororities down to 9 different sororities. Then after that, the next five were announced. Yeah, that's right five. What was originally supposed to be only three was now five. 

As I waited in anticipation for the announcement to be made, I was freaking out. I've never wanted to get something so badly in my life....well this is probably an exaggeration...BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Theta deserves this SO much. So, two o'clock strikes (when they were going to announce it our time), and they haven't posted. Literally took five minutes, which felt like a life time. I sat and clicked and refreshed and refreshed. Then finally around 3:05-3:10 it was announced. Theta was in the top five. Now I was in class and couldn't really get so excited but I had two of my sisters in front of me and we all looked at each other with beaming faces. Kinda like this: 

It may seem a little shallow, but it was such a proud moment for us. Lilly has already designed four other sorority patterns and this is such a great honor to know that they have chosen Theta as one of the next sororities to get a Lilly pattern. 

Congratulations to all the other sororities who gained a Lilly print today. 

This Past Weekend...

This past weekend was Kappa Alpha Theta's formal, which is basically when the new members of the sorority are presented into the community, aka our family and friends. Honestly, I had a blast (as did boyfriend! Which was an amazing shock to me). Boyfriend isn't exactly a fan of the whole sorority thing, but he set everything aside for the night and had an amazing time. 

It seems as if the majority of pictures from formal I'm either laughing, or smiling really big.

Dress Check...1,2...

So, in a previous post I mentioned that after SRW I had to go to Dress Check. This is exactly what it sounds like. During Rush, each round we have to wear a different outfit. This entails everything from blue dresses, nude closed toed pumps, black closed toed pumps, black and white patterned dresses, lbd's, and even tennis skorts. Almost all of my outfits for rush got approved except my black dress, which was too big for me. I knew this going into it though, I had lost a lot of weight since the last time I wore it. I really didn't expect to get it approved so it's okay. Now I just have to go hunt for a new LBD, that fits properly.

Greek Speak: SRW

I know when dealing with my family, friends and boyfriends if I say an abbreviation that has to deal with Theta, nobody understands. So, as I mentioned last post I went to this meeting basically called SRW. What SRW stands for is Spring Recruitment Workshop. What happens here is basically a slight 4 hour look into what my August is going to look like.

What Spring Rush Workshop entails: a slight look into what I'll be doing 8 hours a day for a little over 2 weeks. The first week will be Fall Rush Workshop. This will entail screaming songs at the top of my lungs, learning ritual songs, and learning how to rush to get an amazing group of girls next semester. As exhausting as just the few hours of SRW was, I'm slightly nervous to see how FRW is going to go.

After we go through FRW, we'll be thrown into rushing girls. I'm so nervous yet so excited at the same time. I'm glad that I'll be on the other side of rush this year though. Last years rush was so intense. We battled the heat and the crazy thunderstorms to get where we are today. 

Grub!

So last Friday was our Grub. For those who do not know what that is, it is pretty much a giant dance party for my sorority. Grub stands for Girls Round Up Boys, which means I got to bring my boyfriend, E. It was so much fun to actually be able to bring him out and do sorority things with him for a change instead of just having to meet new guys and make friends.

My friend A and I got ready together in my dorm, and then went over to the house together. When we got there it was pretty much like mass chaos. The theme for Grub was Reality Check, which meant dress up as any reality TV show characters that you wanted. Well, A, myself and our dates E and T all dressed up as construction workers from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I created shirts for E and myself and then we paired it with jean shorts (me) and khaki pants (him). We each had an apron, a paint mask, and a red bandana to go along. Now, usually the girls will make party mugs, however, I've been so crazy busy lately I didn't have time...so what did I do instead? I made a party pitcher....yes, a pitcher. Got it from the dollar tree and then decorated it sillily and just filled it with candy.

All in all, I would say it was a successful night!

Get Down With the Sickness...

So it's finally Friday. The morning of GRUB, the morning before the first LSU home game, and I'm getting sick. It's just my luck too. I'll still make it out to Grub tonight and probably end up spending all day tailgating then to the LSU game Saturday. I'll pay for it Sunday, though it will be so worth it.
