Baking

To say that this past weekend was eventful would be to say the least. Friday night, after my final exam, I convinced boyfriend to come and bake with me. It's tradition for me to give presents to my friends every year, regardless of the size of the gift. This year, I decided that since there were a lot more people I was close with, I was going to do gift bags of baked goods. I didn't realize at the time how much of a feat this would be. I enlisted in boyfriends help and even called in backup with my good friend A. (Needless to say, the night wouldn't have gone half as smoothly if A wasn't there). We started cooking at about 8 pm and didn't finish till about 1:30 am. However, it still left me two things to bake the next day.

We ended up making 10 giftbags for friends and one for the boyfriends parents. They all included oreo balls, pumpkin or banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, christmas cookies, fudge, mint chocolate chip cookies, and mini spiced raisin muffins. I'd have to say that the night was a success, and the look of joy on our friends faces when we gave them the bags made it all worth it.

Ch ch changes

Soon enough, my little blog here will be going under some changes. I'll probably end up changing a lot, actually. But it's about due time! I have some free time now that exams and school and sorority things are done with and I plan on using it to my full advantages. I'll be playing with the format, background and header. So if things get messy, I'm terribly sorry! I'll get it back to normal (except better) soon enough!

Sleep sleep sleeppp

Sleeep, what is that? I'm pretty sure the amount of time that I've slept in the last week and a half would add up to be about 17 hours. Total. For two weeks. I'm living off coffee and tea right now as I clear out my dorm, completely, make christmas lists, attempt to study for the next two exams I have Thursday and Friday, and avoid doing anything strenuous, like walking to the sorority house, which I'm about to have to do. Oh life. I cannot wait until I get to fall into my bed at home and just sleep, without a specific time to have to wake up, or any specific plans.

Finals!

I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for Finals week to be over. In the next week I have to:

1. Take 3 final exams within 3 days. (You wouldn't think that this would be bad but they're all a TON of information).

2. Clean out my entire dorm room, food stash, clothes, makeup, desk drawers, EVERYTHING by next Saturday at 10:00 AM.

3. Continue working for a good 20 hours this week.

4. Sleep....maybe?

You know, it doesn't sound like a lot, however there will be many, many, many sleepless nights in the near future. Maybe we should just have fun this weekend...

Hair Colors...

I have obnoxious red hair...and no, it's not natural. I've loved dying my hair ever since I can remember. The first time I even put ANYTHING in my hair was when I was 11 years old, at my Aunt's house in New York. I came home with slightly reddish hair, and my mother flipped. It was funny to me at the time....

Well, recently I've been (continuing to) play with hair dye. However, I'm going to be in a wedding in June, a strict Italian Catholic wedding to be exact, and I think the bride's mother might just kill me if I had obnoxious red hair in the wedding photos...I don't think the priest would be too thrilled either.

So this weekend sometime I will be attempting to dye my hair to get most the red color out...I know the weddings in June, but I want to be sure that the color is right and not too obnoxious, plus I have to like the color. I thinking of going to a light/medium brown, auburn, or maybe even back to blonde.

Who knows...we'll see how it turns out this weekend!

Bake, Bake, Bake

Lately, all I have been in the mood to do is bake. Forget school, work, architecture, class, and everything else! I just want to sit down and bake. I cannot wait to bake carrot cake, banana bread, banana pudding, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and spiced raisin mini muffins. (My friends nor family can wait either).

I mainly get all my recipes from a site called allrecipes.com, and usually they turn out to be oh so fantastic. I know what I'll be doing my entire break....

It's ALMOST that time.

You know, the most wonderful time of the year. I have to admit Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday. Hands down. I love the cold weather (not being in it, but being able to sleep in bed all day and not have to go outside), snuggling, fires, baking, Christmas songs, family and friends. Plus all the food that I get to eat.

It's dawned on me that Christmas is only a little over a month away and I have NO freaking clue what I'm going to get anyone on my Christmas list. I know of a few general ideas, but nothing set in stone....it's not like I have time to plan all this anywyas. Between school, sorority, architecture, mathlab, football games, friends and work I have been busy  non stop this past semester.

I finally scheduled classes for next semester and could not be more excited. I'm taking a math class, two history classes, an anthropology class, a geography class and a biology class. Needless to say I'm SO ready for everything this semester to be over with so I can take a little break, re-group and come back in strong and ready to go.

Thanksgiving!

I cannot wait for Thanksgiving. It's one of my most favorite holidays EVER! All the foods, and cold weather, and time off school. Especially the time off school (:

Worn Down

I have been so exhausted lately. It seems as if there is barely enough time in the day to get everything done with. I cannot wait until next semester when I get to remember what sleep is.

2+2=Fish.

I hate math. I have an undying hate for math. When I was in Architecture, I needed this complex math...Okay, pre-calculus. Well, now that I'm a Anthropology and History (with a concentration in Seconday education) major, I need easy math. So what did I do this morning? Purposely slept through class. Yup, did not even move when my alarm went off 4 times. I can't wait till this semester is over.

Italian

I want to learn Italian, very badly. So what am I going to do about it? Take SO many classes (and travel (: )

Fall

I love, love, LOVE fall. Possibly one of my favorite times of the year. So many wonderful things! Like:

Not A Happy Camper

I am tired, and not just a little tired. Exhausted. Why you may ask? Well that would be because of the fact that I have not slept yet, since yesterday. I can thank Architecture for that one. I'm in the ONLY studio that had to rebuild half of a project AND work on another part of the project. Well, since I work and don't have time to come in between classes, I had to do it all last night. Not fun. AND I'm exhausted/cranky. Today will be a VERY long day.

Classes!

Since I'm changing my major, I've been looking at all the courses I have to take. Needless to say, I'm insanely excited. I'm thinking about taking two history classes, one anthropology class, introduction to French (I need a foreign language, and WILL be trilingual [French, Italian and English]), and either chemistry or biology. That will only be about 16 hours, which will be glorious since I'm taking 17 right now. I just need to catch up on my school work and I'll be set! So excited!

Major Change.

When I say major I mean it in both senses of the word. Major as in it's a huge change and Major as in, it's my major that I'm changing. Recently, I have discovered that Architecture is just not for me. I like it, really, I do, and I'm good at it but right now at this point in my life it's not worth it. I don't have the drive that I need to get through it and I don't feel as if I could do this for the rest of my life. But no worries, I have a backup plan! I fell in love with my Anthropology class, seriously in love with them, and I've always loved History! So I'm going to combine the two! I'm going to major in History-Seconday Education and Anthropology. Yes, High School teacher. I want to be able to make as big of an impact on kids lives as my teachers made on mine. So, we'll see how it goes.

Spoiled? Maybe slightly.

Have you ever been accused of being spoiled, even if someone's joking just a little? Well, I have been and I admit it...I'm slightly spoiled. Only slightly though. It's not as if even though my boyfriend lives an hour and some minutes away that he comes in every weekend...or that I get to Skype him every night. Or the fact that my friends are always willing to help me out whatever I need, whenever I need. So maybe I'm a little spoiled. (:

Lift Ellie Up

Back on June 23rd, I came across the story of Ellie Potvin, an 8 year old who fought for her life and lost. She was strong, amazing, and beautiful. Here is more information on her if you'd like to help support her cause:

Supporting the Lift Up Foundation

This summer, we offered fine art giclee prints from three of my Angel Series paintings to raise funds to support of eight-year-old cancer fighter, Ellie Potvin.  We also reproduced limited edition prints of three of Ellie's own paintings, together earning over $15,000 for the Lift Up Ellie Fund.

Now as a fundraiser for Amy Potvin's new 501C organization,
Lift Up Foundation, we will continue to offer these limited edition prints this fall.  Fifty percent of proceeds from Angel Series prints, and 100% of proceeds from Ellie's prints will benefit other families struggling with pediatric cancer.

By popular demand, a new edition of Ellie's "Blue Moon" print is now available.  Find that and the other prints
here.

Thank you for your support...Ellie will always be 'An Angel in Our Midst'.

Got a Secret, Can You Keep It?

Postsecret is an ongoing site dedicated to sharing secrets, anonymously. It is possibly one of my favorite sites in the entire world. Seeing other people's secrets, sometimes your own if you send one in. It gives you a sense of community, especially when you can relate to others. Check it out! (:

Peaches.

Recently, I convinced my friend to get a kitten. She lives in an apartment behind her dads house, so caring for the kitten is no big deal. She was a little skeptical when she first brought her home, but she quickly fell in love with her. Our entire friend group loves her. She's like our little baby. At times, she's evil and terrible, but most kittens are. She has stolen my heart.

Grub!

So last Friday was our Grub. For those who do not know what that is, it is pretty much a giant dance party for my sorority. Grub stands for Girls Round Up Boys, which means I got to bring my boyfriend, E. It was so much fun to actually be able to bring him out and do sorority things with him for a change instead of just having to meet new guys and make friends.

My friend A and I got ready together in my dorm, and then went over to the house together. When we got there it was pretty much like mass chaos. The theme for Grub was Reality Check, which meant dress up as any reality TV show characters that you wanted. Well, A, myself and our dates E and T all dressed up as construction workers from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I created shirts for E and myself and then we paired it with jean shorts (me) and khaki pants (him). We each had an apron, a paint mask, and a red bandana to go along. Now, usually the girls will make party mugs, however, I've been so crazy busy lately I didn't have time...so what did I do instead? I made a party pitcher....yes, a pitcher. Got it from the dollar tree and then decorated it sillily and just filled it with candy.

All in all, I would say it was a successful night!

Get Down With the Sickness...

So it's finally Friday. The morning of GRUB, the morning before the first LSU home game, and I'm getting sick. It's just my luck too. I'll still make it out to Grub tonight and probably end up spending all day tailgating then to the LSU game Saturday. I'll pay for it Sunday, though it will be so worth it.

Little Boxes Made of Ticky Tacky

...little boxes all the same. Oh, boxes, boxes, boxes. For the past two and a half weeks whenever someone asks me "Hey! What are you doing" my response has been building boxes. Now this may sound really easy, arts and crafts right? Wrong. If you assume that you are 200% wrong. The technical term for what we've been doing is "creating space". Now, please don't ask me to try an explain because I've tried...many times...and each time ends in someone turning their head sideways, smiling and saying..."oh!". It's okay, I know you have no freaking clue what we're talking about. Now these boxes aren't just little boxes, they're intense. Pull your hair out, want to scream, get two hours of sleep a night if you're lucky intense. Like below, only with cardboard.

Say What?

blog board.jpg

Someone asked me the other day, why do you have a blog? Not in a mean way, just in an inquisitive way. I guess wondering why keep something so silly and trivial. Well, after careful consideration and thinking about it, I came up with this answer: My mother. It's a way for her to keep up with me, see what I'm doing, what I'm thinking and what I'm interested in without me having to call her everyday or send an email. I love my mom, and so this is really just for her. If you follow it and like it, most excellent. If you don't like it, it's all good as well. The only person that I care if they dislike or like it is my mom. (:

First Week or Two

Last week went by really quickly. Monday I had work & class all day from 7:15-4:30 (a full day, to say the least), and then I have sorority meetings on Monday at 6pm that usually last until 7:30-8. Then on Tuesday's I go to class/work from 8:30-4:30, so Tuesday's aren't usually that bad. Then on Wednesdays I only have class from 9:30-10:30 then 12:30-4:30. Thursday's I have class/work from 8:30-6 (again, not really that bad since I'm at work from 12-6). And on Friday's I have another long day with class/work from 7:15-6pm. Plus in there I have to find time 5 hours a week to go to this thing called mathlab (which isn't open on Saturday's, and only open on Sunday's from 5-9). But again, it's not really that bad. I'm keeping busy to say the least. (:

As far as classes go I absoltuely love my Architecture class. Although it's the most stressful thing in the world, I love it love it love it. We went to class on Wednesday and got a project due Friday. I had to stay in the Studio on Wednesday from 12:30 (when class starts) till 5:00 the next morning, in which I got my entire project done so it was worth it and I didn't have to go in on Thursday. We then got another project on Friday that was due today (Monday). I only had to spend a few hours (from 9pm-3am) in the Studio on Friday and then another few hours (8pm-12pm). SO it's been interesting.

I love love love both of my Anthropology 1001 and 2015 classes. 1001 is an Introduction to Physical Anthropology and then 2015 is an Introduction to Archeology. Both of my professors are really awesome. I actually know people in both classes as well. I think I may end up minoring in Anthropology, but who knows we shall see.

Math 1023 is not my favorite class in the world but I need it (yay pre-cal) -_-. It's not that it's difficult but it's just aggravating trying to remember everything and pretty much teach myself. Plus the whole being in mathlab for 5 hours a week isn't the most fun thing in the world, but it's all good.

So all in all everythings been going really well. I'm finding time to eat at least one meal a day (one huge meal at that) and megan and I are getting along really well. I like having a busy schedule because it keeps me busy (haha) and it's good to have time's in the morning when I'm forced to get up and go to work but we're not crazy busy so I can get a lot done.

Work is going really well. Now that the first week of school is over we've slowed down a little bit but it's not been too bad! I still sometimes don't know the answers to questions but it's okay because I'm still learning. I get along with everyone here really well and all in all it's just a fun place to work ! (:

KAT

KAT. That's what I am. I did it. I went through rush and stuck with it. At first I was still a little weary about it. I mean, really? More girls. More than half the houses I went through I couldn't really feel myself there. A lot of the houses were typical "sorority houses". I was like Oh HELL no. However I went through Kappa Alpha Theta and Zeta Tau Alpha and felt instantly at home in both houses. In the end, my choice was to go with Kappa Alpha Theta and I couldn't be happier. It's not like a typical sorority. It's crazy laid back and just a lot of fun. I love it.

"I Wanna Hold Your Hand"

tumblr_l6nyhj41nt1qardx2o1_500.jpg

Have you ever thought about the significance of holding hands? When you first like someone and you find out they like you back, one of the first steps to intimacy is holding hands. After the first time you hold hands with someone, comes the kissing and nicknames and all that other cute stuff. When you hold hands with someone, it’s like you’re telling them “I like you. I trust you. I’d like to show the world that you mean something to me”. Holding hands is such a small gesture with a big meaning. Whether you’re having a bad day or feeling sad — once your significant other grabs your hand and interlaces their fingers with your own, everything suddenly feels okay. It’s like, just by holding hands, it suddenly warms your whole body up with joy.

This is why for me, holding hands with someone (esp in public) is a BIG deal. If you can’t even do the simple act of holding my hand, just forget it. I guess I don’t mean much to you. If you don’t wanna kiss me? That’s fine. But if you unexpectedly grab my hand and interlock your fingers with mine, I’ll be happy. That’s enough for me. I won’t need anything else because I have my world literally right in the palm of my hands.

Birthday

Today is my 18th birthday. I'm spending the day with some much needed retail therapy with girl friends, then we're off to lunch, then underwear shopping (because that's my favorite), dinner with my family/twin sister (my boyfriend was only too happy to agree to come as well), coffee call with all my friends to celebrate and then finally going to a local bar for a show by a band called Caddywhomups. I cannot be more excited.

PS: I'm still a kid at heart.

Work.

Work has been difficult this last week. I've been here, maybe about a month now, and so I'm still catching onto the little things. Well these last two days, actually, I have been getting more and more progressively difficult phone calls about things I'm not sure of. Out of every 8 or 9 phone calls I get theres at least 1 that I just know nothing about. Maybe it's time for sleeping on a regular schedule.

Do you have one person that when they hug you, the rest of the world falls away and everything is just okay? Luckily, I do.

Hairs?!

So, I'm a natural blonde. Natural as in I was born with blonde, blonde, blonde hair. Well, I'm always looking for something different. Summer going into 8th grade? I dyed my hair fire engine red...on accident.  (I loved it). Then I went to school and they told me since it hadn't faded out all the way, I had to get it re-dyed...ironic, no? So then the summer after 8th grade, I cut all my hair off and got blonde and red high lights. Summer after 9th grade, I put pink streaks in my hair...all over. During 10th grade, I let my hair grow out and got white blonde high lights. Summer after 10th grade, it was back to pink streaks. 11th grade, I got a crazy amount of blonde high lights. Senior year? I chopped all my hair off and decided it was time to go back to my natural color. When I say chopped, I cut 11 inches off and then cut it into an inverted bob. Now that I'm out of high school, what have I done? Well I dyed my hair back to red, and I couldn't be happier.

I get by with a little help from my friends

I have the best friends (and boyfriend) in the entire world. End of story. I've been having a rough past few days, which include breaking down every now and then (at the most random times in the world) or staring off into space for long periods of time. Well, my friends have been the most supportive people ever. Wether it be from pretty much living at one of their houses if I'm not at work, or just texting me every now and then to see what I'm doing or how I am or if I want to get out the house. I owe them each a cake.

Albums.

vinyl-record.jpg

Albums. Who actually listens to entire albums anymore? My friends. Yup, that's right. Whenever a new band that they like comes around with a new album, they're some of the first to have it. Everyone listens to it all the way through and then gives their feedback on it. Now, I don't listen to full albums. If I find a song I like, that's awesome. I'll find it on youtube and listen to it nonstop. I'm not one to go out and buy an entire album because I like one song. Except for recently. A friend of mine has given me a list (and the cd's to go along with them) of new albums for me to listen to.

First, Second, Third, Fourth & Fifth

There are five positions in Ballet. I used to know them extremely well and practice doing them in my room when I was younger. Now that I'm older, I just finished my last year of dance and I already miss it like crazy. I'll probably start again soon, but in the mean time, I've been playing with the idea of getting pointe shoes and teaching myself. I probably won't follow through, but a girl can dream?

Inception

This weekend, I went to see the movie Inception. It was AMAZING. I would highly recommend this movie. Now, a lot of the friends that I hang out with are movie buffs to the extreme. They pretty much over analyze every movie that we see to the extreme & even they said that the movie was amazing. Well done Christopher Nolan, well done.

Take Away Show

I've become obsessed lately with these things called take away shows. They're basically when a group or band get together and play their music while just walking throughout the city and they usually take place in France. Check this:

Sleep

Sleep has been pretty much nonexsistant for me. Why?, you may ask. I blame my friends. My wonderfully awesome, totally cool group of friends. There's usually a group of about 6-10 of us that hang out ALL THE TIME. Now, you think I'm kidding but I'm not. We hang out almost every day, and if we're not hanging out then we're talking to each other in some form. Ususally the easiest form is facebook because we can all talk at once. I love these people. Wether we're going to the abandoned docks downtown, satans bridge or coffee call just to hang out and have life chats, there's always something to do & something to talk about. However, I have to blame them for my lack of sleep/fucked up sleeping schedule. We never get home till 2am, and depending on who's there we can stay out till 4 sometimes. But now, getting more than 4 hours of sleep is pretty much impossible.

My brother and his best friend are currently back packing through Europe as I type this. I cannot even express to you how jealous I am of him. He's going to all these awesome places and I'm crazy jealous. On my list of things to accomplish one of them is now backpacking through Europe. I want to travel in general. I'm going stir crazy sitting in Louisiana.

Innocence

These kids are from Staten Island's PS22. (Public School number 22). They're from mixed backgrounds and most of the kids qualify for cafeteria assistance. The teacher, Mr. B, has taught these kids so well. He is so inspirational. Check out more of their videos. They're sound is so innocent and pure.

Abandoned Pier

There's this abandoned pier down here that a lot of people know about and like to frequent. I love this pier. It has graffiti all over it and it's crazy rusty. It seems like it's about to fall down any day, but won't. Here's a few pictures I took over there (:

Nawlins

Or as most other people know it as, New Orleans. I recently went there with some friends to walk around the Aquarium, French Market and Bourbon Street. All I know is that I love it there. I wouldn't want to live there, or even go to school there, but once every now in then it's an amazing place to go spend the day, or the weekend. There were so many buildings that were broken down and abandoned that I wanted to go in (I have a way of finding myself in abandoned places), however, my friends persuaded me that it wouldn't be such a good idea. Now, any other city, fine, no problem. But not in New Orleans. Here are just a few pictures that I took while I was there.

Broken Hearts

I came across the story of a little girl named Ellie today. My heart broke as I read this family's story. Ellie was an 8 year-old little girl who passed away this morning after suffering from cancer fro nearly 2 years. She was a fighter, oh god was she a fighter. Please, keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. #LiftUpEllie

Car

My car is in the shop right now, and I can't think of anything else to do. I never really realized just how much I use my car until I had to go without for THREE days. Now, I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but I'm attached to my car. I love it. It's not a really nice car, but it runs and gets me from place to place. I've had so many memories with friends in that car and I'm quite missing it. Now don't get me wrong, I have awesome friends who come and pick me up, but it's not the same. I love driving. I wish it would be done soon

Oil

Recently, I went to my pawpaw's camp in Cocodrie, which is possibly my favorite place in this entire earth, and they told me I wasn't allowed to fish. Now, I love fishing, shrimping, riding out in the gulf and just hanging around. However, this time that I went I wasn't allowed to do any of that. Why, you may ask? Because of this damn oil spill. I'm sick of BP pretending like they're doing something when they're not. They're running a commercial that states they have paid 18,000 claims of fishermen, shrimpers, and people who earn their daily living from working in the gulf. Well, I hate to break it to you but 18,000 is not a lot. It's barely putting a dent in things. The worst part about it is, that I believe that our economy will never be the same again. BP needs to fix their mess, because I want my safe haven back.

Problem

Recently my sleep schedule has been SO incredibly out of wack, I'm not even kidding. So in my attempt to get it back together (before work and school starts back up again) I've decided not to sleep tonight and see how it goes. Most likely, tomorrow by noon I'll be a cranky mess. Quite literally actually. I'm going to the Audubon Aquarium tomorrow with some friends and I predict it is going to be a long day. I'm bringing my nikon and am going to attempt to take some awesome pictures while there. Hopefully, we will be able to go site seeing and take some crazy awesome pictures while at it. Wish me luck.

In the mean time, I'm making a cd for tomorrow, cleaning my room, picking out an outfit, packing up my camera and necessary camera accessories, putting all my dorm stuff together, snacking and playing sims 3. Hurry on up 8am! I'm so ready for this little road trip.

Just Breathe

Today an especially good friend of mine decided to mutually end the relationship for the boy she truly still cares about. I know the pain of a breakup, my decision or not, and I am greatly saddened to see her hurt like this. Whenever I am at a loss of words or at a loss of thought I always listen to this song. It calms me down and brings me peace. I hope it does the same for you.

Netflix

Recently, (read: yesterday), I signed up for Netflix. The first month or few weeks or something was free so I figured why not! Oh my goodness. I'm completely in love with silly netflix now. It's crazy. I love the fact that I can watch any movie, tv series or anything right at the tip of my finger tips. (I'm all about instant gratification). Plus, it's only 9 bucks a month. And I have a group of really great, amazing movie buff friends. K is 21, her fiancee G is 26 (most darling couple ever, btw), J is 24 and R is 25 (maybe?). Well, I became close with them when I was working with K and J at the bakery. Now I absolutely adore them. However, they're huge movie buffs. They have a few years on me too, so this is a great way for me to (sadly attempt) to catch up!

I've started arrested development (one of their favorite shows) and I've finished all of Season 1! Now on to the next one!

Love

So. There's this song by Neon Trees called Animal that I'm obsessed with. You may have heard it on some commercial , I'm not sure which one though because I don't watch TV that much. However, I found an acoustic(ish) live version of it that I like so much more. And when I say like, you should read it as "I've fallen obsessed with this song and have kept playing it over and over and over again." You can check it out below (: !

12 Years Later

I have finally gotten a laptop. It's a Macbook Pro and I'm slightly obsessed with it. Still kinda learning but I love it so far! Feels so weird not to have the schools laptops anymore!

Goodbye My Friend

So, today is the day. My last day of high school. EVER! I've finally done it. I've gone through four years of difficult schooling and hard times to only come out on top. Today, my most upsetting thing is not that I have to say goodbye to friends, or even that I'm leaving the school that I've loved/hated for so long. No. The saddest thing is that I have to turn in my lap top. I've had a laptop at my hands for the last four years. We've been through dells and Toshiba's. Now. I'm going to college and I have to actually go buy my own laptop. There is no running to the help desk with laptop in hand as I'm getting the blue screen of death to prove that "look, it really, really, really is crashing this time!". There will be no more trying to convince the help desk that I need a new keyboard, well, because I don't like the way this one types (shout out dell laptop). It's only fair to say that I've relied on the help desk a LOT in my four years here. It'll be different going to school where if I miss class I can't just ask someone to send me notes (because everyone doesn't type everything) and I can't just be like "Hey you want to put that on common for me?!" ...this is because there will be no common. It'll be interesting to see how much things change, but I'm ready for whatever college throws to me.

The Vampire Diaries

File:Vampire Diaries Logo.jpg

I hate to say it, but I'm obsessed with this show called The Vampire Diaries. It plays on the CW (but since I just got into it, I've been catching up online. It's truly captivating. I love it.

Here is Wikipedia's overview of it: The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural–fantasy horror television series developed by Kevin Williamson, based on the book series of the same name by L. J. Smith. The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), who falls in love with vampire brothers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). The series also focuses on the lives of Elena's friends and other inhabitants of the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

You should check it out (: !

What's in Your Mind

"Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now"

PS: I'm slightly obsessed with this song, right now.

Short Temper?

With only a few days left at this glorious school, tempers are truly running short. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm right there too. There are graduation parties galore, dress shopping (two more dresses), graduation announcements, tons of tests, for those unlucky ones exams, oh and you're supposed to be having the time of your life. I'd have to say, that about each girl is getting, oh I don't know about 5 hours of sleep. Maybe a little less. These last four days are killer. It's going to be a long week. At least we don't have school Friday, just senior breakfast and mass! I have to admit, I'm going to miss it.

Stress

With the last 5 days of school closing in on me, the last thing I want to do is homework. However, my teachers think differently. With so much going on, it's hard to really care about these few days left, but I will succeed. However, my mind keeps going 24/7. It'll be worth it. I'm finally graduating!

A Wedding

This weekend I was a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding. It was a bunch of fun, with a lot of dancing and eating.  It was a quick wedding, even though they were married in the Catholic Church. This was because there wasn't a mass (thank goodness). In the end everyone had a ton of fun. But now it's back to the swing of things.

As It Comes to a Close

So, next week I have a total of 7 tests/quizzes. Now let's understand this, a quiz at my school can be up to 50 points. AKA a small test. It's crazy. I only have 5 CORE classes, but in those 5 classes I have 7 tests. I'm not looking forward to next week at all. Crazy amounts of test means crazy amounts of homework. :(

Dormmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

So I got my dorm room the other day. You may not understand how big of a deal this is, but it's huge! I ended up getting the dorm that I wanted. It's slightly bigger than most of the other dorms on campus. It's got a sink in the room and it has a suite bathroom. This means that instead of sharing a bathroom with an entire floor of girls, I only have to share with 4 girls! I'm so excited. I can't wait to buy everything and start getting everything together! (: It's my first step on the way to "the real world"!

Dorm Shopping

I know I haven't graduated from high school yet, but I'm so excited about dorm shopping. SO Excited! I can't wait to be able to go and choose out everything that I want for my new room! My friend and I are dorming together and we're both over the moon. We already have a tv/dvd player, mini-fridge and microwave (my mom had pretty much all these things in the attic!). Therefore the only thing we really need is, well, everything else. My roommate is doing zebra themed things, but I'm going more along the lines of bright colors. However, being in architecture, it's not like I'll be in my room all that much. I'm excited to see what a new school brings! It'll be interesting being in the "real world" but I couldn't be more excited.

White, White oh and some more White

I've found a few white dresses online that I like, however I have to try everything on. Why? It might be because I'm so tall that I have to be very careful about what I buy. Some things that are meant to look a little short, look super short on me. So, here are the few I'm looking at.

Prom

This weekend, I'd have to say that prom was generally successful. I had a great time just dancing with friends and getting ready. However, I have to admit I'm so ready to graduate. I'm over being in school and having to concentrate and tests. BUT I will graduate. This week looks crazy to begin with: work, school, dance, surprise for a friend, and a wedding. I'm going to be exhausted by this time is over, but it's all good. I still need to find an all white dress for graduation...it wouldn't be like me not to procrastinate though. (:

Sweet Home Cooking

In my adult responsibility class, our assignment for the next few weeks is to create a dish in a specific type of food that has been given to us. My partner and I have chosen Cajun cooking and plan on doing something like Crawfish Etouffee. I'm excited. I love Crawfish Etouffee.

Ingredients:1/2 cup roux *
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper
1 small can diced rotel tomatoes
2 cups water
3 lbs of cleaned crawfish meat
1 tsp. each salt, pepper, garlic powder
dash of cayenne
1 cup finely chopped green onion tops for garnish
Directions:Make a roux by browning "slowly" in a small iron skillet ...1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup flour until it is dark brown. Do not rush this. Add chopped white onions and bell pepper. Next add rotel tomatoes, water and seasoning. Stir very well over medium high heat. Cover and reduce to low and simmer for about 15 minutes. Add crawfish tail meat.... and raise heat to a slow boil. Cook for about 5 to 10 minutes. Take off the heat , Cover and let set while you cook a pot of white rice. (About 3 cups of raw rice, 6 cups water, salt, and butter )Serve over the 'cooked' white rice and garnish each bowl with green onion.

My Little Rant

So here's my little rant for tonight: Dumb questions from a Bakery.

1. How do you stay so skinny working in a Bakery? (Here's a little hint, just because I work there, doesn't mean I gouge myself on delicious treats. Also, I dance. I'm active)

2. What time do you close? 8? AT NIGHT? (No, we work from 7am-8am. Yes, 8 at night)

3. Well what do you suggest? (I'm not allowed to give you my suggestions because if you don't like it and blame it on me, then I'll get fired)

4. It's not really a question, but a suggestion. Please, do NOT call and order a cake and tell me your life story. I really don't care. I'm here to take your order and help you out, not listen to why you're having a bad day.

That is all.

PS: we don't make these, but i wish we did
